DIALYSIS UNIT

Establishment of the Unit

Bugando dialysis unit is the best dialysis center in the Lake zone, established July 2016.
The unit is under the Nephrology unit in the department of internal medicine.

UNIT ROLES

To provide dialysis services to patients with

• End stage Renal Disease
• Patients with acute kidney injury
• To manage most of the complications which occurs during dialysis
• Education to the patients about the kidney diseases, diet and the needs of kidney transplants to the patients with end stage renal disease
• To do some of pre- kidney transplants investigations to the potential kidney donors.
• We have good collaboration with other specialists from the different department at Bugando medical Centre.

Staffing.

• 1 Specialist, head of dialysis unit
• 1 medical officer, who is working together with specialist to manage different medical conditions of dialysis patients
• 5 Dialysis nurses
• 1 Medical attendant

Mode of payments

We accept NHIF and other insurances.
Currently we have contract with GGM providing fully service to their staffs.
