LOCATION: The
ICU is located on the Ground level next to the
Theatre, Labour-ward and the Accident and Emergency
Department. The CT-scan is nearby. Physiotherapy is
opposite. The ICU is very easily accessible without
using stairs or elevator.
DAILY HOURS: 24
hour service, 24 hour on call of one specialist. Daily major ward rounds, daily
intensive patient assessment and 24 hour coverage of
certified nurse. Admissions at any time.
DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
High level of intensive care for both pediatric
and adult patients, average 900 patients each year.
Immediate response for all admissions
The whole nursing staff is either certified or is
carrying a two years ICU-nursing diploma.
Modern equipment like cardiac monitors on each
bedside, ventilators, infusion-pumps, and
defibrillators are in place.
A side labor for emergency laboratory is available
on ICU daily.
A thorough training for BMC-staff and external
health professionals has been established.
A networking with other intensive care units has
been initiated.
